According to [Transport Topics](https://www.ttnews.com/articles/shoppers-retailers-september), U.S. retail sales rose 0.4% in September from the previous month, marking the third consecutive increase. The retail sales data, released by the Commerce Department on October 17, are not adjusted for inflation, though overall prices of goods slightly decreased during the month.
