A Partnership Approach to 3PL Logistics

Tue, Aug 02, 2016 @ 09:21 AM / by David Hooper

What is the key to a successful business? We all have a common goal and that is to grow our businesses. The key is to bring in new partners and not just customers. You want to form new partnerships and not categorize them as customers. Here are the principals to the partnership approach - partnership.jpg

Establish a relationship. Choosing a warehouse provider is not a one stop shop. You need to be in constant contact to develop a good working relationship with prospects before they decide that you will be a good partner for their business. Don’t treat potential partners like they are just another customer, take the time to learn more about them and show interest in learning about their supply chain.

Communicate often. By communicating often you can better understand the needs of your partners warehousing and supply chain demands. Creating an ongoing dialogue is important, as it is the foundation for teamwork and cooperation.

Embrace differences. The way you operation can be different from the way your partner runs their business but it does not mean one is wrong and one is right. Take the opportunities of being different to learn from each other’s strengths.

Rejoice together. When your partner succeeds, you succeed. Take a moment and celebrate together.

The business world is always changing and relationships between the business service providers and their customers are constantly evolving. The strength of the partnerships your company has is the major determining factor of your business’ success. Understanding your business partner better can often be the first step towards positive changes and improvements. So let us all advocate for healthy business relationships and help each other grow in the long run.
